In many rural areas across Africa, Quranic schools (known as “Khalwas”) lack basic lighting, hindering students from continuing their education, especially during the evening hours. According to the World Bank, approximately 600 million people in Sub-Saharan Africa live without electricity, significantly impacting education. The Illuminating Quranic Schools project aims to provide lighting units to these schools, enabling students to study in a safe and conducive environment.
